RF traditionally refers to communication systems operating at frequencies from kHz to Ghz. Today most systems have adopted principles from the RF world, with circuit tracks having to be treated as transmission lines and antennae. System design and signal processing capability originated in the RF world apply to many other areas such as ultrasonics.
